The Ann Arbor Cat Clinic is dedicated to the care of cats—we truly understand the bond between companion animals and their families. This is why Ann Arbor Cat Clinic strives to provide comprehensive care throughout the life of your cat, and at the same time, build life-long relationships with our clients.

We practice preventative care that includes routine checkups, dental care and appropriate vaccinations as well as parasite preventative monitoring and care. Our doctors perform surgical procedures that include spays, neuters and declaws.  At our state-of-the-art facility, we are committed to making each client visit the best it can be.

Annual Exams
Routine physical examinations are just as important for your cat as they are for you! We recommend a complete physical examination at least once a year. Routine examinations provide our vets with the opportunity to get the baseline information and to develop a snapshot of your cat’s overall health in addition to using this benchmark as a way to spot potential issues before they become serious health concerns. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask our veterinarians important questions about your cat’s health, behavioral issues and daily care.

During each wellness exam, our DVMs perform a “nose-to-tail” evaluation of your cat. We will examine his or her vital signs and senses, test the joints and muscles, and check for any unusual lumps or growths on your cat. We will make a record of any concerns you might have about your cat, recommended nutritional programs, list any preventative procedures performed or needed, and track an other issues relating to the health of your cat.

Maintaining wellness throughout your pet’s lifetime
Maintaining the health of your cat requires more than a once-a-year visit for a checkup. It includes understanding the needs of your cat as it transitions through  youth, adult and senior years. At Ann Arbor Cat Clinic we follow a protocol designed to help you manage the health needs of your cat in order to promote optimal health.

Our program consists of the following:

Kitten (birth to one year) – The first year of a kitten’s life requires special care in order to ensure that he or she grows and develops normally. This includes an initial exam with vaccinations (even for pets that don’t go outside), regular testing of stool samples, and a discussion about good nutritional health and heartworm and parasite prevention . At about four to six months of age, we recommend spaying or neutering your pet.

Adult Years (age 1–9) – These years represent your cat’s midlife. During these years, it is important to keep up with annual wellness exams and boosters for vaccines, regular lab tests, flea and heartworm prevention, dental exams and other procedures.

Senior Years (9+ years) – Cats in their senior years require additional veterinary care in order to keep them healthy and to detect early signs of treatable but chronic conditions such as kidney, heart and thyroid disease as well as other potential problems in geriatric animals, such as cancer. We recommend twice yearly wellness/geriatric exams tailored to your cat’s age and condition, an prescribed geriatric diet, routine bloodwork and blood pressure screenings, as well as the monitoring of any growths or lumps.
